About us

Built in Tanzania,
for Tanzania.

Loufybooks started with one simple observation: Tanzanian shop owners were managing their businesses on paper, in spreadsheets, or with tools built for markets very different from theirs.

We set out to build a POS that speaks the local language — M-Pesa, Tanzanian Shillings, cloud-powered, and fast enough to keep up with a busy Kariakoo kiosk or a multi-branch chain in Dar es Salaam.

Our mission

Give every Tanzanian shop owner a fair shot.

Big chains have expensive ERP systems. We built Loufybooks so independent retailers get the same power — without the complexity or the price tag.

Local first
Every feature is designed around how shops in Tanzania actually operate — from M-Pesa payments to Swahili receipts.
Simple by design
Staff training that takes minutes, not weeks. A UI that works for first-time smartphone users and tech-savvy owners alike.
Always reliable
Built on a resilient cloud infrastructure so your sales keep flowing. Real-time data means every transaction is recorded the moment it happens.
Honest pricing
A free plan that is genuinely useful. Paid plans that cost less than a month's airtime. No hidden fees, ever.
Constant improvement
We ship updates every two weeks based on real feedback from shop owners — not a roadmap made in a boardroom.
Your data, your business
You own your sales data, your customer list, and your inventory. Export everything, any time, no questions asked.
Our story

How we got here.

2021 The idea

Our founder noticed his family's shop in Kariakoo was still running on a handwritten ledger. He decided to fix that.

2022 First version

Loufybooks v1 launched on Android — basic POS and inventory. The first 50 shops signed up in two weeks.

2023 M-Pesa + iOS

Native M-Pesa integration and the iOS app shipped. Monthly processed volume crossed Tsh 1 billion.

2024 Web dashboard

The full web admin launched — giving shop owners a desktop view of their business alongside the mobile app.

2025 2,400 shops

Loufybooks now serves over 2,400 shops across Tanzania, processing Tsh 8.4 billion every month.
